Easter always kinda gets overshadowed by Garrett's birthday, but we had a nice one. It was just the four of us this year, and we took it easy. The kids loved getting their baskets and loading up on some sugar before church. We actually got a pretty good family shot before we left that morning, too. We came home for lunch, but saved the egg hunt for after Scout's nap. Her territory was the backyard, while Garrett got anything behind the fence. It was a lot of fun, and the kids found every egg! I think G finally started to understand the real meaning behind the holiday, as we tried to spend more time this year talking about the incredible sacrifice that Christ made for us. Although it's very belated, Happy Easter, everyone!
I'm a mom of two sweet kiddos, Garrett and Scout and the wife of an equally sweet husband, Ryan. My favorite job is staying at home with my children, but I occasionally work outside the home at my easier, but less rewarding, job as a speech therapist in nursing homes in our area. We are a Christian family with a strong faith and a good community of friends. Family and fun are very important to us, and we consider ourselves abundantly blessed.
Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout - This was an interesting book that makes you contemplate life, though you have to be patient with a strange set-up.
Animals You Never Even Heard Of by Patricia Curtis - We had heard of some of these, but it's still a good selection.
Snakes by Gail Gibbons - Garrett has been checking out nonfiction from the library, and even Scout likes this one.
Saffy by Paola Opal - We got this for Scout from the library, and she absolutely loves it. She has almost all of it memorized.
The Girl Who Played with Fire by Steig Larsson - a follow up to the Dragon Tattoo, and so far, really good.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson - so good! you should pick up a copy
Crazy Love by Francis Chan - such a motivating read!
Gossie and Gertie by Olivier Dunrea - both of my kids love this tender book about two best friends and their boots.
Frog and Toad by Lobel - We have all three books in one binding, and G loves these. They were a gift from his friend Anna, and though he liked the stories then, he seems to have re-discovered them with fervor.
The Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer - I'm actually done with it now, and it was great!
How Do I Love You? by Marion Dane Bauer - Scout loves this book, as Garrett loved its companion I Love You Through and Through by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak. Very similar and sweet books, but oddly they share the same illustrator Caroline Jayne Church instead of the same author.
Baby Animals by Susan Rich Brooke - This is a book with sound buttons that are easy for Scout to push to hear the baby animal sounds. Parker, Emerson, T and Big Al gave her this one for Valentine's Day.
Panda Beard, Panda Bear What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr./Eric Carle - Scout loves this one. She grabs it and then backs up into my lap to have it read to her. She growls with each page turn.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss - Garrett just bought this with money his Nonni gave him for Halloween, and he loves it when the Grinch finally becomes sweet!
